The story of Joysicles starts in 2016 when founder Monica Gilliam decided to listen to her friends and family who encouraged her to turn her passion for cooking into a business. She took advantage of her free time while her husband was deployed and her daughter was still a baby, and she started testing recipes. Going back to her roots, she began selling Brazilian Treats, proving to herself that she could make a living using her cooking skills. Months later, the idea for Joysicles came to Monica in an unexpected way. She realized that there was a gap in the market when she wanted a healthy treat to give her daughter, Joy. Monica switched directions for her business and Joysicles was launched in 2017. Today, Monica produces these pops in Virginia Beach with help from a team of military spouses, college students, and family members.
